The cold brew coffee might sound familiar to you. A drink that looks like it, but is perhaps even more popular, is iced coffee. Yet there’s a big difference between the two. Which one? And the real meaning of this cold drink? We will explain it to you.
Cold brew coffee
A cold brew coffee is a drink that contains cold water and coffee. An important part of this drink is the time it takes before it is ready to be served. The coffee needs to rest in the refrigerator for 12 to 24 hours. That’s where we come to the first difference with iced coffee. Another difference is that the iced version is made with ice cubes and a fresh cup of coffee. This other brew, on the other hand, is made with ground coffee and water.
Two types of brewing methods
Within the cold brew coffee. There are two brewing methods to choose from. Namely the ‘cold drip’ variant and the ‘soaking method’. The cold drip technique requires a cold drip machine, while the soaking method, requires nothing. Both ways are slightly different but with the same result: a delicious cold coffee!
Taste
The cold brew coffee has less bitterness and more smoothness. Therefore, it’s less heavy on the stomach. Some people love it where others just prefer the heavy, bitter taste of typical brewed coffee. But it’s definitely worth a shot.
